Life is a Hoax

Life is a Hoax

We think we experience the world as it is yet we only have a collective vision of it
The cargo of our pasts coincide as they say and so we seem to see the same world

The reality of our senses is passed through the filter of conceptuality
We build our reality with word-thoughts

We seek ease but find only toil
We seek stability but find only change
We seek idle time but find only busyness
We seek youth and immortality but find only aging and decay
We seek existence but find only dependence

We hope for freedom and fear bondage
We dance intimately with every affliction
We know intimately every addiction
We lie and ignore
We despise and adore

What is ours to keep? Nothing
We are guests here wearing out our welcome
We are carvers of niches and selected selectors
We make choices and endure consequences
We are links in chains of choices

We are dreamers, liars, and believers
We are schemers, diers, and deceivers

It is hard to agree amidst the vastness and variability of views
It is hard to agree on a story, on a plan; on the past, on the future

Life is a hoax and yet the hoax hurts and the hoax heals
We discover that we invent reality with our thoughts
Then we discover the reality before thoughts, our original nature
This is our deepest self that is not a self
Or so they say
