The Moon is Like a Lotus Flower

The Moon is Like a Lotus Flower

The Moon is Like a Lotus Flower
Fresh and new, with fragile moments few to sparkle and glisten
Just for a breath or two I stare and here and there I listen
Watery slithering curvy blur departs from her mud sleep
Another day another year another play of hope and fear
Another turning of another circle
And gain and loss of all that is dear
And so it goes the flaming rose away it blows in summer winds
It is the endless flow that will come, dwell, and go
And we’ve nothing to show for the glorious past that didn’t last

Nothing left to do but chase the nimble nymph known as Now

The Moon is Like a Lotus Flower
The mani jewel glow of night’s crescent bow shoots arrows of moon rays
As Eros-Cupid-Kama sends darts of soma hearts on this best of lovers’ days

Nothing left to do but chase the nimble nymph known as Now

But I’ll soon fall away into old habits and chase the elusive rabbits of bitter desire
But archer, archery and target are lost in the none-ness of the faintest point of fire
And me I wallow ever in the mire wailing for a time then settling into the flow of stillness
And then I’ll be awoken by the shrillness of a new day demanding chores and deeds
And too we are all gardeners planting seeds hoping for flowers and fearing weeds

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Life is a dream
And what else but Love could be true?

Romance is an illusory dance
That fades from certainty to chance
As the dance of days fades to wrinkles and grays
Oh time, our lives are truly yours
You lead us to doors
Along paths of endless change
This life is sad and strange
But there are inhales and exhales yet to savor and explore
And moments to falsely and knowingly so adore
We smile for tomorrow’s blooms of children and flowers
And we marvel at the rising and falling of beings and powers

And now and then from the muck of night will rise this lotus flower again
