Buddha Just Sits
Buddha just sits
Bodhidharma just stares at the wall
Nowhere to go
No one to meet
Nothing to do
We have duty and all under it
Only if it could be just that
But we want more
We suspect other universes to explore
Yet ignore that which is most near
Tricked by our own tendencies to defy reality as it appears we seek more
So many words unsaid
Faces unmasked
Deeds undone
Buddha just sits as storms come and go
Birth and death unravel and lives arise, abide, and dissolve
All we can do is watch
Yet we can watch more closely than before without the distractions of hope, fear, and
longing
Only the moment, only the bare necessities need remain
No glory, no horror
Only Zazen
